ISL is the French-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis.

The French-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis, “ISL” for short, was created as a binational institute by a treaty signed by the German and the French governments on the 31 march 1958. Its mission, as stated in the treaty, is to be an institute for research, scientific studies and basic technologies in the field of armaments.

The institute is jointly financed by the French and German military, the Délégation Générale de l’Armement (DGA) and the Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung (BWB).
